Questions & Answers

What type of screen printing ink is Flat Black DI-203?
Flat Black DI-203 is a low-cure Dynamic plastisol screen printing ink that provides semi-opaque flat black coverage on 50/50 blends, cotton, and many other fabric types.

What fabrics is this ink best suited for?
This ink can be used on all types of fabrics; for soft-hand coverage, Lawson recommends using 196 to 305 monofilament mesh, and you should always pretest to confirm suitability and optimal print parameters.

What are the recommended flash and cure temperatures?
Flash Flat Black DI-203 at approximately 220°F for 3–5 seconds and fully cure at 270–280°F to ensure proper adhesion and long-lasting wash durability.

Is this ink press-ready and safe to use?
Yes. Dynamic inks are non-phthalate and lead-free, with a creamy, press-ready consistency straight from the bucket, so you can get on press quickly without heavy modification in most setups.

Can I use this ink for print-flash-print and wet-on-wet?
Absolutely. Flat Black DI-203 flashes quickly, making it suitable for print-flash-print over a white underbase, and it can also be run wet-on-wet depending on your mesh counts, artwork, and press configuration—always pretest before full production.

How do I clean up after printing with this ink?
Use a press wash or Thinner DT for on-press color changes, and an ink degradant when reclaiming screens; you can either save the stencil or fully reclaim the frame according to your reclaim process.

Do you offer local pickup in St. Louis, MO and Marietta, GA?
Yes. Flat Black DI-203 is available for pickup at our St. Louis, MO headquarters and our Marietta, GA Atlanta-area office, where orders are usually ready in about one hour, in addition to convenient nationwide shipping options.

How should I store this ink for best results?
Store the ink at room temperature below 95°F, away from extreme heat and direct sunlight, and use within one year of the manufacturing date for consistent printing performance.

  • DESCRIPTION

Flat Black DI-203 is a low-cure Dynamic plastisol screen printing ink that delivers smooth, semi-opaque flat black coverage on 50/50 blends, cotton, and a wide range of fabrics. Curing at just 270–280°F, this ink helps reduce fabric scorching and supports production on temperature-sensitive garments while maintaining a soft hand feel and rich black color. With a creamy, press-ready consistency, Flat Black DI-203 is ideal for both manual and automatic screen printing presses where fast setup and consistent results matter.

All Dynamic Inks flash quickly, allowing efficient print-flash-print or wet-on-wet printing when used over a white underbase or as part of multi-color jobs. Use any standard direct emulsion or capillary film stencil system, enjoy minimal ink build-up on screen, and get excellent mileage—approximately 800–1,750 sq. ft. per gallon—across everyday production runs. Clean-up is simple with Thinner DT or any conventional plastisol wash-up system and ink degradant, and stencils can be saved or screens fully reclaimed depending on your workflow.

Lawson ships Flat Black DI-203 to screen printers nationwide and offers fast local pickup at our St. Louis, MO headquarters and Marietta, GA Atlanta-area office, with most orders ready in about one hour after processing.
