How to Cure PreTreat Solution & DTG Ink Using a Heat Press
Curing your pretreatment and ink correctly is the difference between a professional, retail-ready garment and a shirt that fades or peels after a single wash. Whether you're a seasoned pro or just starting out, mastering the heat press technique is essential for achieving a durable, high-quality finish.
Quick Cure Reference Table
| Step | Temperature | Time | Paper Type | Pressure |
| Pretreatment | 335°F | 15s + 15s | Parchment | Light, then Heavy |
| Ink Curing | 335°F | 90s - 120s | Silicone or Teflon | Light |
Essential Pro-Tips
- The "Hover" Method: Before locking your press down on a fresh print, hover the heat press lid over the image for 30 seconds. This "sets" the ink and prevents the image from sticking or smearing when you apply the final press.
- Choose Your Finish: Use Silicone paper for a standard matte look, or switch to Teflon paper if you want a shinier, slicker finish on your graphic.
- Avoid the Silicone Trap: Never use silicone paper during the pretreatment phase; it can ruin the shirt's ability to bond with the ink. Stick to parchment for the initial dry.
