Direct-to-Garment Printers: FAQ
Can Epson DTG printers also print Direct-to-Film (DTF) transfers?
Yes. Modern Epson SureColor models like the F1070 and F2270 are hybrid systems. They can print directly onto cotton garments or onto DTF film for heat-transferring onto polyester, nylon, and dark blends.
Do I need to pretreat every shirt before DTG printing?
Pretreatment is required when using white ink on dark-colored garments to ensure the ink stays on top of the fibers. For light-colored shirts using only CMYK inks, pretreatment is optional but recommended to improve wash durability and color vibrancy.
What is the difference between the Epson F2270 and the F3070?
The Epson F2270 is a versatile, mid-sized printer ideal for boutiques and growing shops. The Epson F3070 Production Edition is built for high-volume industrial use, featuring a bulk ink system and dual printheads for faster output and lower ink costs.
How much maintenance do Epson DTG printers require?
Epson printers feature automated cleaning systems that handle most daily maintenance. We recommend a simple 5-10 minute manual cleaning routine using an Epson Maintenance Kit to keep the printhead and capping station in top condition.
Does Lawson provide training for new DTG printer owners?
Yes. Every printer purchase includes certified training and access to a "Personal Printing Coach" to ensure you are successful with pretreatment, software setup, and final curing.
