Questions & Answers

What is Fluorescent Blue 157 best used for?
Flo Blue 157 is ideal for high‑visibility fluorescent blue graphics on spirit wear, team and event shirts, fashion designs, and youth apparel where you want a bold neon blue that stands out on modern blends.

Is Flo Blue 157 really low‑bleed and low‑cure?
Yes. Fluorescent Blue 157 is a Low‑Bleed/Low‑Cure Dynamic Ink, designed to cure at 270–280°F to help eliminate dye migration on polyester, 50/50s, and other tough “bleeder” fabrics.

What finish and opacity does it have?
Flo Blue has a semi‑gloss finish and is listed as opaque, giving strong coverage and a vivid fluorescent look while still maintaining a printable, soft hand on the garment.

Which fabrics can I print with Flo Blue Dynamic Ink?
Dynamic inks are formulated for all types of textile fabrics, with excellent results on cotton, 50/50s, blends, and polyester; for softer‑hand coverage, Lawson suggests using 196–305 monofilament mesh.

Do I need a white underbase on dark garments?
On dark garments, you’ll get the brightest, truest fluorescent blue by printing Flo Blue over a smooth, opaque white underbase; on light garments, it can often be printed directly for a softer feel with strong color.

What flash and cure settings should I start with?
Lawson recommends flashing at about 220°F for 3–5 seconds and curing at 270–280°F at the ink film, verifying with a donut probe or temperature strips to ensure full cure and maximum bleed resistance.

Is Flo Blue 157 press‑ready, or do I need additives?
Fluorescent Blue 157 is ready for use as‑is, with a creamy body and minimal screen build‑up, so you usually don’t need modifiers. If you add curable reducer or soft‑hand base, do so in small test batches and always re‑check cure, opacity, and bleed resistance.

How do I clean up Flo Blue on press and in reclaim?
For on‑press color changes, Lawson suggests using a press wash, and for reclaim you can use a standard ink degradent, then either save the stencil or fully reclaim the screen as usual.

What kind of mileage can I expect from a gallon?
Mileage is described as excellent, around 800–1,750 square feet per gallon, depending on mesh count, image area, and ink deposit, which makes it efficient for both short runs and larger production jobs.

Is Fluorescent Blue Dynamic Ink compliant for kids’ and retail programs?
Yes. All inks in the Dynamic Series are non‑phthalate and lead‑free, formulated as premium plastisols for modern apparel standards, so when properly cured, Flo Blue 157 is suitable for children’s garments and retail work.

Fluorescent Blue 157 Dynamic Plastisol Ink is a ready‑for‑use, low‑bleed/low‑cure fluorescent blue plastisol that delivers bold, vibrant color with a soft hand on today’s cotton and poly‑blend garments. It’s smooth and creamy straight from the bucket, with a semi‑gloss finish and opaque opacity so it covers well and prints easily on both manual and automatic presses.

This Flo Blue DI‑157 LB is engineered as a low‑cure ink, typically curing at 270–280°F at the ink film, which helps block dye migration on polyester, 50/50s, and other “bad bleeder” garments while also reducing scorching and shrink on heat‑sensitive fabrics. Dynamic inks flash quickly at about 220°F for 3–5 seconds, allowing you to run print‑flash‑print or wet‑on‑wet depending on the job and still keep production speeds up.

Fluorescent Blue 157 offers excellent opacity and bleed resistance, making it a strong fluorescent blue choice for athletic wear, spirit wear, event shirts, and fashion pieces where you want a vivid neon blue that holds its color on blends and polyester. Lawson notes that mileage is approximately 800–1,750 square feet per gallon depending on mesh, stencil, and ink deposit, so it’s suited to both short‑run shops and higher‑volume production.

Like the rest of Lawson’s Dynamic Ink Series, Flo Blue is non‑phthalate and lead‑free, press‑ready, and formulated to provide vibrant color with a smooth, semi‑gloss print surface and minimal screen build‑up. It works with all common direct emulsions and capillary films, cleans up with standard plastisol wash‑ups, and performs across a wide mesh range, with 196–305 mesh recommended when you want softer‑hand coverage and fine detail.

Stored properly—room temperature, away from extreme heat and direct sunlight, ideally below 95°F—Fluorescent Blue 157 maintains excellent consistency and printability for up to about a year from the manufacturing date. As part of the Dynamic fluorescent palette, it intermixes well with other Dynamic colors, letting you build custom bright blues and teal‑leaning tones while keeping the same low‑cure, low‑bleed performance.
