Metallic and Glitter Plastisol Ink
Metallic and Glitter plastisol inks are bright, have excellent opacity, and are press-ready. These plastisol inks are ideal for either manual or automatic press applications.
Finish: Bright metallic semi-gloss
Opacity: Excellent
Drying: 320°F
Always pretest to determine suitability and curing parameters
Notes: A convection, forced-air dryer is recommended (minimum 10-foot heat chamber) because metallic and glitter inks are reflective by design. If an infrared (IR) oven is used instead, take special care to check for a proper cure. Abrasion during normal wash cycles may cause some dulling. Soaking in phosphate-free soaps (e.g., Woolite) is recommended to maintain metallic and glitter brilliance.
Fabrics: All types. For maximum coverage, use 61 to 86 monofilament for metallics and 17 to 61 for glitter inks.
Stencils: All types
Wash-Up: Use Thinner DT or any conventional plastisol wash-up system
Reducers/Thickeners: Use only if absolutely necessary. Modifications will reduce metallic brilliance. Reducer/Thinner DT will reduce tackiness and viscosity and minimize “ink hang” in the screen (1%–3% by weight). Reducer/Thinner PL will increase gloss and film elongation and improve “ink flow,” but it reduces opacity and slightly increases dry/cure time (1%–5% by weight; use with caution). Thickener Paste stirs in easily, slightly increases viscosity and dry/cure time (1%–5% by weight). Thickener Powder increases viscosity without affecting dry/cure time but requires stirring with a drill mixer (up to 1% by weight).
Storage: Store in a relatively cool area. Keep away from extreme heat and direct sun exposure. Store below 95°F.
Stir plastisols prior to each use. Do not dry clean or use bleach.
Always pretest before use to establish suitability and procedures prior to production.
