How does a heated lower platen prevent fabric scorching?

Traditional heat printing relies entirely on an intense blast of radiant heat from the top platen, which easily scorches delicate synthetics. The Power Platen applies uniform heat from underneath the garment, meaning the top platen only needs minimal heat to secure the design, safely curing your transfers without melting or bruising sensitive fabric fibers.

Which Hotronix heat press models are compatible with this platen?

The Power Platen is engineered to integrate seamlessly with 16" x 20" Hotronix® Auto Clam, MAXX® Clam, and Air Fusion IQ™ heat presses. Please note that it is not compatible with the standard Hotronix® Fusion IQ® or draw-style presses.

Does the Power Platen require any extra accessories to operate?

Yes, it requires the external Power Platen Controller (sold separately) to regulate temperatures accurately. The controller is completely interchangeable across all four platen sizes, meaning you only need one master controller even if you purchase the full family of platen beds. Additionally, due to the power draw of the heating element, it must be plugged into a dedicated circuit breaker.

Can this platen handle threadable garment loading?

Yes! The Power Platen is fully threadable when paired with a Heat Press Caddie stand or Counter Caddie. This allows you to slide garments completely over the lower bed, dropping obstructions out of the way and isolating just a single layer of fabric for seamless printing.
