Description

Looking for an industrial-strength, mid-sized heat press that combines high-pressure clamping with space-saving portability? The DK16 Geo. Knight Heat Transfer Digital Clamshell Press 14" x 16" (Model DK16) is an American-made commercial workhorse engineered by Geo. Knight & Co. Designed for reliable custom apparel production, this press features a mid-sized 14" x 16" Teflon-coated platen that opens wide for rapid manual operation and easy garment loading.

The core production advantage of the Digital Knight DK16 lies in its ultra-heavy framework and superior thermal management. Built with a solid steel framework that resists flexing under high clamping pressure, it utilizes patented SuperCoil-Microwinding™ heater technology inside a 3/4" thick heat platen assembly. This guarantees complete edge-to-edge temperature uniformity with zero cold spots up to 500°F. Highly optimized for applying Direct-to-Film (DTF) transfers, heat transfer vinyl (HTV), screen-printed transfers, sublimation blanks, and patches, its open-access framework permits operators to easily "dress" garments over the lower platen to isolate print areas from seams and collars.

Equipped with an advanced digital controller storing 70 programmable presets, a digital pressure bar graph, and dual pre-press timers, this 83 lb portable powerhouse brings retail-ready precision and long-term durability to compact print shops and mobile event setups.

  • Wide-Opening Clamshell Design: High-peak opening angle gives operators generous clearance for loading garments without touching the upper heat platen.
  • Gas Shock Assistance: High-grade gas struts assist lifting and clamping, making manual operation smooth and fatigue-free.
  • Threadable Pedestal Framework: Elevated table design permits garments to slide cleanly around the lower platen to eliminate seam interference.
  • 70 Programmable Memory Presets: Advanced Digital Knight controller stores up to 70 custom time, temp, and pre-press settings for instant recall.

Questions & Answers

Where can I buy or pick up the Geo. Knight DK16 Clamshell Press locally?
You can place your order online and choose convenient local pickup at either the Lawson Screen & Digital Products headquarters in St. Louis, MO, or our Atlanta branch in Marietta, GA. Pickup coordination can also be arranged through satellite technical support centers in Phoenix, Orlando, and Des Moines.

2. Does the Geo. Knight DK16 require an air compressor?
No. The DK16 is a manual clamshell heat press that utilizes mechanical leverage and gas struts to clamp and open, operating strictly on standard 120V electrical power without an air compressor.

Can I upgrade the DK16 to an automatic pop-up press later?
Yes! Geo. Knight offers an optional Auto Release Pop-Up Upgrade Kit that converts your manual DK16 into an automatic pop-up press with an electromagnetic release and HOVER capability.

How does the SuperCoil-Microwinding™ heat platen improve transfer results?
Unlike standard heat presses that experience cold spots around the edges, the SuperCoil-Microwinding™ heater wraps densely across the entire upper platen. This ensures complete edge-to-edge thermal accuracy to prevent under-cured transfers and peeling.

What transfers can I apply with the Digital Knight DK16?
The DK16 handles all standard commercial decorating applications, including Direct-to-Film (DTF) transfers, heat transfer vinyl (HTV), screen-printed transfers, laser toner transfers, dye sublimation, and embroidered patches.
