Flash Units: Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between an infrared and a quartz flash unit?
Infrared units, like the Super Flash, use a consistent radiant heat panel and are ideal for manual printers. Quartz units, such as the Quartz Express, feature "Instant-On" lamps that only draw power when the press is overhead, making them more energy-efficient for automatic production.
Do I need a 120V or 220V flash dryer?
Entry-level units like the Econo Flash often run on standard 120V power. However, for faster production and larger print areas, 220V units are recommended as they reach curing temperatures more quickly and maintain heat better during high-speed runs.
Can these flash units be used with automatic presses?
Yes. For automation, we recommend integrated units like the DCC Red Pepper or the Workhorse SFB Flashback. These are designed to communicate with the press or use specialized sensors to shuttle in and out of the print station automatically.
Does Lawson provide support for all flash unit brands?
Absolutely. Whether you purchase a Lawson-made unit, a Workhorse Super Seca, or a DCC Poblano, you are backed by Lawson's technical support and our Customer Service Team.
