Toner Aide for Laser Positives | Increase the Density On Your Film

Increase the blackness or density of your film positives

If your laser printer toner doesn't stop UV light because the toner leaves open areas or the fuser doesn't melt all that deposit, you need to spray Toner Aide on your paper positive. Increases the density/blackness on Vellum or Film.

Toner Aide for Laser Positives: Useful add-on for vellum positives

I used Toner Aide for Laser Positives with Laser Vellum, Ulano 925WR emulsion, and a 230 tpi mesh panel, all purchased from Lawson. In addition to positives on vellum, I use super density pens (for lines drawn on clear acetate or directly on the vellum) and rubylith (for areas of uniform color) -- both also from Lawson. [Note: My screen printing is for fine art purposes, so my experience may not generalize to a larger-scale commercial context. E.g., I don't require extremely detailed textures or patterns to be printed on and from the vellum. I work around any need for close registration. I don't use common halftone shapes and angles, nor CMYK colors. And, my exposure process is low-tech.] For my purposes: the Toner Aide is a low-cost way to get darker positives from laser-printed vellum, allowing longer exposure times, clearer open areas and sharper edges.
